Tights please is going green with full force and taking no prisoners! We are on the lookout for suggestion, tips or just general comments that will keep us going today and keep us on the right track for this green Friday.
For one day only we are offering 10% off everything on the site, this includes new stock and items from luxury brands, Wolford and Falke.
Even if you are not an eco warrior then please note that every little thing you do counts. Whether it is sharing lifts to work, shopping online rather than driving down to the shops or taking a closer look at what your clothes are made from.
What Tights please and Lingerie please are doing:
Some of you may be aware that we were running a charity initiative that allowed people to send in old tights for us to send to Ethiopia for a hospital that helped women that suffered complications whilst giving birth. The tights were extremely useful and were used to keep bandages in place.
It is around this time of year when you often want to give your wardrobe a good spring clean and get rid of all the items you don’t wear anymore. Give you underwear drawer a new lease of life and donate all your second hand bras to a good cause such as the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. They now have a total of 15,364 bras with help from www.lingerieplease.co.uk and when you donate you receive 10% off your next order!
Being green for the day raises awareness of living ethically, and we have some great fun ways of doing this that we have picked up on. There is a scheme where you get to know your neighbours better which means sharing a lunch with all your friends and neighbours and being friendly and welcoming to everyone around you. This is all about bringing communities closer and bridging the gaps that may have formed.
Another great trend that is emerging is swishing and swapping clothes with your friends. Landfills are overflowing with items that may have only been worn once or never so trawling second hand shops can be very fruitful! Team your newly found clothes with coloured opaques and footless tights to give your outfit a fresh look each time you wear it, so you’ll love it for longer!
How to give your old tights a new lease of life:
We have also had a lot of fun in our office thinking of ideas of what to do with old tights, whether it is
creating great necklace like the Lady Smaggle has created or using them for stuffing cushions!
Embellish black tights such as Jonathan Aston 40 denier opaque’s at Tights Please or wool tights from Levante for a unique new addition to your wardrobe. Sequins and large diamantes add sparkle and glamour as seen on the Ungaro catwalk for A/W 2009/2010. Lace tights look particularly pretty embroidered with sequins and tiny bugle beads. Why not, use laddered tights to create bespoke jewellery; one off pieces can update an outfit in an instant. Just grab a pair of old coloured opaque tights, cut them into fine strips and get creative adding beads or pearls to make pieces stand out. And most of all….remember to have fun!
Make use of those old pairs of tights by recycling them to make great dusters. Use the legs from small holed fishnets and fill them with peanuts to make feeders for the birds. Chop tights up to make stuffing for home made soft-toys.
So you don’t lose the pebbles from your fish tank down the drain whist cleaning them, pour then into an old opaque tight leg. You can then rinse water through them to get them clean. For more ideas for the home and for the garden follow the links.
