Tights for charity

Thank you to everyone who produced an avalanche of tights here at Tights Please HQ!
A couple of months ago we launched our charity appeal to send in second hand tights for a hospital in Ethiopia. The hospital needs tights to hold dressings in place for women who suffer a fistula injury after childbirth (see http://www.fistulafoundation.org/ for more details).
Well we have been overwhelmed with thousands upon thousands of pairs! The pictures only show one portion of the tights we received and, as our postman knows, they are still arriving thick and fast.
The appeal has now closed as we find out if the hospital needs more. However don’t despair, we have been so overwhelmed with the response we are thinking of other ways to put second hand tights to good use. Please leave comments below with any suggestions … or just to have a guess at how many tights were sent. We will be revealing the answer in a few weeks!

Chocolate brown; a colour that is luxurious, sophisticated and rich. Feeling Sheepish in Wool Tights

If you have started to feel the cold then wool tights are perfect! The thickness and softness make them the perfect accessory for icy mornings. I am personally a massive fan and if I don’t wear them to work in the day, I usually put on a pair when I get home.
The great thing about wool tights is that because wool is a natural fibre it has lots of qualities that make it pefect for the cold as it traps warmth!
This season doesn’t need to be about covering up, and tights are great for showing your legs off but saving the shivers.
Whilst wearing Levante wool tights, I get nostalgic memories of being younger and over Christmas wearing thick tights to keep warm and now they are all back again. Thick and chunky hosiery is a real trend and updates an outfit giving it a stylish twist. Although the selection of tights are thick they could never be described as bulky and are actually very flattering!
Wool tights are a staple item and the best thing of all is that they are almost impossible to ladder!

The nights are drawing in, the mornings are getting frosty and Christmas decorations are already in shops, but is this a reason to be pale and pasty? We think not, fake tan is the perfect pick me up when your eyes are simply turning green when anyone mentions going on holiday. If you want a subtle tint, try St Tropez everyday face that is the easist thing to apply, I use mine as a substitute to moisturiser and as it develops slowly by the time I am in work, I can tell a difference.
For nights out when you cant bear to hide your legs I love to use the tanning lotion, it is so easy to rub in that even a first timer couldn’t go wrong a perfect treat for yourself!

Get Great Texture in Ribbed Tights

Ribbed tights are very flattering, as they have fantastic texture without necessarily being thick and chunky. The subtle vertical lines are great for elongating your legs and a great slimmer.
I received a pair as a present last Christmas, and to be honest, at first I wasn’t sure about them. A few months later I was searching for a pair of tights and tried them on. I was amazed at how much I liked them and thought that the ribbed detailing actually improved the tights. Now I alternate between opaque’s and ribbed tights. The reason I like them is because the ribbed texture is subtle and I personally think it’s the little details that make an outfit special.
My favourites are the Falke Elegance Ribbed Tights because the yarn combination includes cashmere making them luxury for your legs. I found the fit of them perfect and like the autumnal colours they come in. Other ribbed tights I recommend are the Cette Zurich tights and the Wool Ribbed Tights from Levante as they are very warm and great for those days when you are waiting around for the train!
